A Challenge That Would Stretch Me-Satoe Konuma

Introduction
Teaching in the classroom would stretch me because it needs a lot of skills I don’t have. I think there are four main elements about teaching ; preparation, instruction, acting and flexibility.

1.Preparation
In order to teach something, I must study it in advance. Also, I must make lesson plans (what to teach, to whom we teach, and so on). These things are hard for me to do perfectly.

2.Instruction
This element is connected with preparation. When explaining something to those who don’t know about it, I must use simple words in order to make such people understand it easily. To do this, I must understand it perfectly. This is difficult for me. If I can’t explain comprehensively, that means I don’t understand the things thoroughly. This fact is very severe…

3.Acting
It is a premise to teach something clearly, but if I speak reluctantly or in small voice, students will be unfocused and won’t listen to me no matter how good things I may say. That’s too sad…
In order to make students stay engaged all the time, I must have passion and perform like an actress. This keeps my classes interesting, so students can absorb and retain the information that I present.(But to be like a comedian is so hard!!)

4.Flexibility
Naturally, as students are living creature, I must be flexible to deal with unplanned conditions. I may not be able to fulfill my plans because of students’ sudden questions. Moreover, when teaching, I must care about students’ conditions (for example, health condition or to what extent they can understand). I like routine work and always want to avoid something unplanned, so this element is the most difficult thing for me.

End
I am not good at explaining with easy words and addressing something flexibly, so it is hard for me to acquire these abilities. However, to be a teacher is my dream, so I must overcome my weakness. If I do my best to  accomplish these four elements, I can develop myself a lot. Therefore, to get teaching skills would stretch me.

Teaching seems to be a very gratifying activity, once you're passing on your knowledge! Sharing is good, as well as helping! That's how I see beautiful in teaching.
