Jimmy Wales-Chiaki Kitaoka

I watched a video '10 Question for Jimmy Wales'. There were interesting questions and his answers to them.
The first question which interested me was "Has the creation of Wikipedia meant that traditional encyclopedia is dead?". To this question, Jimmy answered that it is certainly ailing. 'Ailing' means being in poor health, so it is supposed that he is sure how Wikipedia has influence on other encyclopedias. However he also added that which encyclopedia is better or worth depends on their business model. I think his opinion is true. Not everyone has their own needs.
The second question was "Would you rely on corporate sponsorship or would you shut down Wikipedia?". He said he is opposed to having advertising in Wikipedia but absolutely not because he and his college have to keep Wikipedia alive. I agree with this. I think it is impossible to run big and beneficial internet services such as Wikipedia with no fund. He also said"Money is not on the table".
The next question is that what is the most difficult problem Jimmy has encountered. He explained he has spent a lot of time policy relating to biographies of living people. He described this as the most critical, thoughtful, ethical and responsible pieces. I can understand well what he said. Some people write the fake information to hurt someone, so it's important to set the criteria carefully.
The final question was from a college student. He asked whether he could earn a college degree just from studying Wikipedia. I thought he was kidding but his question could show what Jimmy thought of Wikipedia. He said clearly he won't. He didn't end this answer but added that the education changed radical so you could get o lot of useful information in aspect of informal learning.
Through those questions, I learned being responsible and thoughtful is necessary to establish something influential like Wikipedia and to operate it.
