His way of thinking is quite interesting. He said as he
learns a language he will become a little bit different person because he
thinks acquiring a language is knowing about the society and history in which
the language is spoken and he gets new perspective and idea. Speaking of other
polyglots I read about in the textbook, they are generally in the environment which
helps them to learn language. One of them was born in the environment in which
different family members speak different languages. However, Tim was born in
normal family, but he succeeded in learning a lots of languages. It is amazing.
One of the basis of his learning language is watching TV or movies. It makes
you to be exposed to normal rate of the language and colloquial register. And
he said he normally repeated it over and over again. I also think that it is
useful for me so I will introduce it into my daily language learning.
I agree with you. Repeating over and over is the good way of leaning languages becouse we can do it easily and efficiency. We can emulate another way he introduced easily I think.
ReplyDeleteYes it is effective. I will watch another video and think about another method.
DeleteLearning lauguages is more than just learning how to use it. We should keep it in our mind.
ReplyDeleteyeah, amazing.
Keeping what I have learned is difficult but important. I will do my best in Japan.
Deleteyou and I might have watched different videos but the the essence of his thought about language seems quite the same, I think. language represents a cultural worldview.
ReplyDeleteI think so too. By learning language we can compare the culture of home country with that of the country in which the language is spoken.

ReplyDeleteI agree with your opinion. I think it is amazing that a boy in a normal environment succeeds in mastering 20 foreign languages, too. I also would like to try his method when learning a foreign language.
Thank you for commenting to me, too. I will also do my best back in Japan.
DeleteI think watching TV and movies is a great way to learn languages because it is less boring than reading textbook. I will adopt the way of learning after I return to Japan.
ReplyDeleteI will do the method too. Maybe I can begin from today!
DeleteI was also surprised that he was grown up in the only one language environment , moreover English using environment. Very amazing!!
ReplyDeleteI was amazed too. Though he grew in the US and there mostly only English was learned, he decided to learn another language.
DeleteI also think that Tim is amazing because he was born in a normal family, but he succeeded in leaning lots of languages. Tim’s method is interesting and seems easy to try. I’m also interested in your daily language learning.
ReplyDeleteI take a note about some phrases I don't know how to use and what I don't know how to say in English. And look them up using the Internet. I also want to try watching videos. I will begin if I have enough energy.
