I think this situation I'm facing now is one of the best way for me to learn an additional language. That is to jump into new environment using the language I want to learn. From my experiences, when I went to the United States for two weeks in my high school days, I felt that I became better in listening to English and speaking it. If you go to environment that you want to learn, almost all of the things around you are written in the language, and people around you are talking in the language. Then you try to understand what signboard means, what local people say and try to communicate with them. It makes possible for you to improve your English skills!!
But in my experience, after I got back to my country from the US, I felt my skills went worse. So I think not only going foreign countries where people speak the additional languages, but also keeping the skills are important.
To keep the skill, maybe to enjoy movies, musics and books that use the language is good. If you like artists who is native in the language, you are more motivated to to learn and improve the language.
From the above, I think, the best way to learn an additional language, it is important to learn from everything around me, which will be people, just a signboard and books. That is for me to learn here, in this language center and to enjoy using English.

DeleteI feel keeping the skills of English is important, too. I am going to do something which maintains the ability to speak English, such as to talk with friends from foreign countries or to go to the English conversation class, but I haven’t decided yet so if you get a new idea, please tell me!

DeleteI had a same experience as you when I visited other countries! And it is difficult to keep the ability because we forget when we come back to our own country... maybe we can make the most of SNS or other tools to have connections with friends in other countries.
