Tim Doner - Nanako Komori

I selected “Teen speaks Over 20 Language” and “Polyglots Teen speaks 23 languages” .

I really impressed the comment in first video, learning language is “way of life” for Tim. He watches movies and TV shows and that connect his study directly.  I want to emulate the way to use audio in studying language. I want to use YouTube, movies, TV shows and so on.
And in the latter video, he said if you knew French, you were able to understand languages which have same rule to it, like Italian and Spanish. I learned French in my university, so I want to try other Romance language. Also, he mentioned in video, to learn one language made it possible to understand culture, history and society the language was used. I want to understand the background of language I am studying.

  2. I also think leaning language leads to knowing about the culture. I sometimes find an expression which the Japanese has but English doesn’t. At that time I feel a cultural gap between Japan and English-speaking countries. I think we can find it based on comparison.

  3. I also watched “Polyglots Teen speaks 23 languages.” In the video, I felt his great passion to understand each other across the barrier of languages around the world. He also mentioned the importance of understanding culture, history and society. Because our society is based on languages, we have to learn languages at first for mutual understanding in deeper level.

  6. Makes sense Nanako. It is also interesting how globalization has led to many words from English being adopted by a variety of languages, so knowing English offers you a headstart for learning them.
