Tim Doner - Haruki Washio

He says each language has its own expression that shows how one society or culture thinks, so he becomes a little bit a different person when he starts to speak a foreign language and he may say something he wouldn’t say in English. English, his mother tongue, is a great common language so it is possible that it interferes with his learning a different language, but since he understands as above he can continue learning, I think.
His parents say he studied languages 20 hours a week. I think it’s great but at the same time I wonder how it’s possible with only 20 hours because he has not  only to acquire new languages but also to maintain ones he already know.
He told us some tips for learning foreign languages such as repeating self over and over. I noticed that I can get a clue from such YouTube clips.

    1. I'm afraid I cannot learn so many languages rapidly, though.

  2. I agree with you. It is interesting that each language has its own expression that shows how one society or culture thinks. I would like to try his way when learning a foreign language, too.

    1. Yes, it makes me think that we should also learn about its culture when we learn foreign languages.

  3. It's hard to believe also for me that he spent only 20 hours a week for studying languages. In my opinion, he can do such a great thing because he really loves learning languages.

  4. Sometimes we can get a clue from YouTube right! I always watch my favorite videos but I think I should watch academic ones too.

  5. For me, most of academic contents are too difficult to understand even in Japanese.

  6. I like the idea that you change in some ways when you speak another language. That is quite intriguing.
