The way to learn English in my experience-Chiaki Kitaoka

When you study additional language, there's an effective way. The way is easy to practice and makes you enjoy. It is watching videos which English speakers make on You Tube.  It works better when native speakers don't make a speech but chat.
However this doesn't work if you watch videos without thinking anything. You can get only amused.  There's some tips for this method.
First of all, you should choose videos which interest you. The more interested you are, the more you get from the video and you can continue watching. For example, if you're interested in make up, then watch make tutorials. If you love cooking, you should choose videos about cooking.
Second, if you are not confident in listening to what they say in the videos, you can watch them with subtitle. Subtitle also helps you find words you don't know. When I come across new words, I stop the video once and write them down on my memo. Then I start watching videos again.
Third, you should repeat what they say. By repeating what native speakers say, you can get the key to how to pronounce and speak fluently. Also you can learn how to use body languages.
In fact, I've watched make up tutorials on You Tube almost everyday. At the time when I start watching them, my listening and speaking skills were more horrible than now but I could improve my skills. If you are interested in cosmetics, I have recommendation for you. If you are confident in speaking and listening, you should watch Jeffre Star and Kathlenn Lights. If you are not, you should watch Im Jenn.
I hope my method will help you!

  1. I amazed with your recommendation. Especially, I think it is good to learn English with your daily needs where you use English as a tool to live your life. Sometimes, it is difficult to understand what they say and take much time to do it but if you keep doing this, I'm sure that you can be a good English speaker. I'll live with English as you do.

  2. It is an interesting idea for me because I’ve not known those who learn English using YouTube, I know many people using TED for English learning though. I also think repeating what the native speaker is saying helps me improve the skills of listening and speaking. I will try to watch YouTube which native English speaker makes.

    1. In my opinion, it's easier to watch You Tube than TED so if you like to, search the words which interest you in English on You Tube!

  6. I think continuous effort is very important but I feel it is very difficult so I agree with your argument that we should choose one we are really interested in. By the way, don't you think we tend to rely too much on subtitles if we have it? Only me?

    1. thank you for your agree.
At first time, I relied on subtitles too much, so I made it a rule to watch videos without subtitles to the end at first and then check that what they say matches what I catch.
