There are a lot of ways to learn
an additional language, but the best way that I think is to use that language every
day.
When I was in high school, I was studying English
hard every day for the university entrance examination. After taking that
entrance examination, I have long-term vacation before entering the university,
it was about 2months. During the vacation, I didn’t study English at all because
I thought there is no reason why I study. However, I had to take the placement
test after entering the university. Since I had known the date of the placement
test before the test, I have started to study for that. However, I had not studied
for 2 months as I said, so I realized that I lose my English skills especially
in terms of the vocabulary. In the end, my score of the placement test was too
bad than the score I had got in the high school. After entering the university,
I have been studying English hard every day and using it every day as well. Therefore,
my English skills getting better. Even though I don’t study English only one
day, my English skills get bad.
From these experiences, the best
method to learn an additional language is to use or study EVERY DAY.
I agree with your idea, because I had a similar experience to you. Plus, from my experience in high school, I think this learning every day is useful not only for an additional language bot also other study like math.
ReplyDeleteExactly. To learn something not only lunguage we always should use or study EVERY DAY if you want to grow up.
DeleteIt's so persuasive with your actual experience.
ReplyDeleteYour episode made me feel I have to punish myself.
I also think that. How stupid I was!
DeleteI have experienced the same thing as you, so I'm gonna say how stupid I was!
DeleteYes it is very very important to study English EVERY DAY!!
ReplyDeleteEven if we are busy, we can make small progress every day and that will be a big outcome.
Yes, some people say that "today is very busy day, so I can't study today." , but it's just an excuse. We can make progress if we have a passion.
DeleteKeeping your effort every day is more difficult than you work hard only in one day.
ReplyDeleteI have similar experience as you. When I was taking piano lessons, my piano teacher said to me that if you didn’t play the piano one day, you would become worse at playing the piano for three days.
Your teacher is a little strict, but that's the correct opinion, I think. Keeping our effort every day is the the most difficult of our life but it's the most important.
Deleteyour essay that puts emphasis on regular practice reminds me of the saying that "Rome was not built in a day" or "practice makes perfect".
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comment. To put something into the sayings is interesting! Saying is useful!
DeleteI feel your suggestion is very persuasive because of the story of your experience. I'd like to know what you mean by "using it". Does it mean you speak or write in English every day?
ReplyDeleteThank you for giving me a question. Actually, in my Japanese university, there are some English class (Writing, Communicative, Reading, and Grammar) every day, so that's why I use English every day.
DeleteI have experienced the loss of my English skills, too. I think it can't be helped. So I think what we can do and have to do is to use English as much as we can.
ReplyDeleteExactly. If we have much time on that day, we have to study harder of course. The more we spend a time studying, the more our skills will improve.
DeleteWhile reading your essay, I feel I need to do self-reflection. Today, I haven't spoken out at all until now haha
ReplyDeleteYou're honest person! Sometimes we human should have rest lol
